April Month Special Events
On 12.04.2023 second phase certification and third phase inauguration ceremony of St. George Tailoring Centre was held at Palayam regional office. 35 students participated. The function was presided over by the Assistant Secretary Rev. Fr. Rajan. Ms.Ambika welcomed everyone. Sewing trainees Ms. Nisha and Ms. Mahalakshmi shared their experiences. Theni District Coordinator Mr. Eliyas Raja through a short story highlighted that everything we do is in our hands. He advised them to become expert at sewing. Rev. Fr. Rajan distributed certificates to the sewing trainees and congratulated them. In his address he explained the purpose of MMSSS and advised them to cultivate the habit of saving. Then, it was decided to start a federation, 15 students were selected. Theni District Coordinator and staff were asked to guide them in order to actualize the federation. Mrs. Sumathi gave the vote of thanks.

On 19.04.2023, a short play titled “Nan Mouna Satchi Allen” (“I am not a silent observer”). It was the biography of Rev. Fr. Staneswamy. It was enacted at the Central Office of Madurai Multipurpose Social Service Society at 11:00 am. Staff and SHG members took part in the event. Rev.Fr. Rajan welcomed everyone. The play was written, directed and enacted by Religious brothers & sisters. The team introduced themselves and thanked MMSSS for giving an opportunity to speak about Rev. Fr. Staneswamy. The team staged the play about the life and witness of Rev. Fr. Staneswamy. Rev.Fr. Rajan said that social work means raising voice in the context of oppression and volunteering to help out. Staff and team members shared their experiences about the play and the activities they would do. The director of Nobili Pastoral centre Rev. Fr. Benedict Barnabas took part in the event. At the end, social activist Mr. Bose shared his views and insisted the participants to take home what they received through this play.
