The issue of Ecological degradation and Community Management of Natural Resources was taken up at St. Joseph’s High School, Samayanallur on the 10th of September 2024.
Mr. Malayalam, the President of Samayanallur Panchayat presided over the program along with Rev. Father Martin Joseph, the secretary of the School and Mrs. Palaniyammal, the Inspector of the Women’s Police Station.
Around 200 Students of the Scouts, Green Brigade Movement, and VDC Members of Samayanallur, Madurai, and Karumathur participated in the Program.
Rev. Fr. G. Gabriel the Secretary and Treasurer of MMSSS, gave a brief explanation of the Ecological Degradation, Biodegradable and non-Biodegradable, Recyclable materials, separation, disposal of garbage, and effective way of Solid waste management.
The school students performed a skit play highlighting, the misuse of Natural Resources and emphasized the importance of protecting the Environment with an awareness song by the Kolping Member.
The Awareness Rally was flagged off by Mr. Malayalam, a Vehicle fixed with Awareness Banners on the front and both sides followed by the Students and Kolping Members, carrying the awareness placards, and distributing pamphlets to the public, passing through RC Street, Bajar Street, Madurai Batlagundu Main Road, and reached the School via the Police Station Road.
The Students of Scouts and the Green Brigade Movement of the School and the VDC members became the “Agents of Change” in protecting the Ecological Degradation and Community management of Natural Resources.
The entire program was coordinated by Fr. Rajan, supported by the Kolping Coordinator and Mr. Lawrence Edwin Babu, the Headmaster of the School.
