World day of Elders World day of Elders was celebrated on the 22nd of August, 2022 at 11.30 am in Uthamapalayam regional office. 65 people from SHGs took part in the function. Mr. Samuthirapandiyan, the Regional Coordinator of Uthamapalayam proposed the welcome address. Mrs. Eswari, a Field Staff of the Region sang an awareness song expressing the intimate relationship and affection between Mother and Daughter. Mr. Justin, the Chief Coordinator spoke a few words about the importance of celebrating this day and he made us realize that we should treat the elders with respect and care for them. Rev. Fr. Stalin, Asst. Secretary explained that old age is second childhood and we should take care of the elders and fulfill their wishes. As we don’t leave child in a home, so also we shouldn’t put elderly people in the home for the aged. Mr. Eliyas Raja, the District Coordinator narrated the story of a small boy who took care of his blind mother. Mrs. Suguna Esther Rani, the Regional Coordinator of Theni thanked everyone who participated in this special event and hence made this day into memorable one.
